 “It is very difficult to say goodbye to Laurie Strode, much more difficult than I imagined because there are many people who love this character very much,” confesses the actress in an interview with Europa Press in which she acknowledges that, after the end of the franchise, he’s going to miss not only “working with all my guys” but also that special “connection” with a legion of fans who literally adore Laurie. She acknowledges that some tears escaped her, and that this character has taken her to places, emotionally, “very hard and difficult”. “What I am not going to miss is how hard our work is. I get emotional talking about it. It may not seem like it, but this is really hard work. You live in a very intense emotional state during these roles.”

The actress turns 64 in a month, time continues to pass and she is still one of the most outstanding actresses. And his character Laurie has also achieved it. She identifies with her character strength.

As for her career in the saga, in which her character went from being a terrified babysitter in that first film in 1978 to a powerful and feisty matriarch who even seeks to confront her worst nightmare in this final trilogy, she believes it is about Laurie’s “logical evolution” that goes beyond a “gender issue” or empowerment. “Any woman who defends herself, who resists, is a tough woman. Anyone who goes through everything this character has gone through in his life, who has had to face physical, emotional or spiritual violence… Violence has consequences on people, it makes some give up. In this saga I represent a strong human being who resists, be it a woman or a man, it is something that goes beyond gender. It is more a question of experience”, he proclaims.

In this sense, Curtis highlights that ‘Halloween: The End’, which is again directed by David Gordon Green, responsible for the final three installments of the franchise, is a film that uses the figure of Michael Myers, the legendary villain of the saga, to raise much broader reflections on violence and hate on a personal level and also as a society.

“The question that this film asks is if we are all monsters and what is it really to be a monster. If you go into Twitter or social media lately, you wonder if all those people aren’t monsters. And they are, but they use different weapons. Michael Myers is a very specific kind of monster and this is a film that tells us that there can also be other kinds of monsters and how some monsters feed other monsters, how other monsters are created”, he reflects.

Curtis plays Laurie Strode for the last time in this story set four years after the events reported in the previous installment of the ‘Halloween Kills’ franchise, picks up the story of Laurie, who now lives with her granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak) and is about to finish writing his memoirs. No one has seen Michael Myers since their last matchup then.

Laurie, after letting the specter of Myers control her reality for decades, has finally decided to leave behind her fear and rage to dedicate herself to life, but when the young Corey Cunningham (Rohan Campbell) is accused of killing the boy he cared for… On Halloween night, a cascade of violence is unleashed, forcing Laurie to face evil one last time.
